FAQ about Background Pi
Why not just use a program like PiFast?
Because the point is not to compute pi really really fast to some goal of digits. Background Pi is a proof of concept that pi can be computed without limits from with many computers. At some point we will probably give up computing consecutive digits of pi and work on computing single world record digits.
Whats an average "Iteration Time"?
Most people will probably see an Iteration Time of at or below 1000ms but your mileage may vary. Other programs will slow it down because Background Pi only takes unused cpu cycles. You may be able to make it run faster by selecting your CPU type in the Settings dialog, if you don't know I recommend leaving that setting alone.
I have an X core computer or a computer with X CPU's, how do I use them all instead of just one?
This feature requires editing the configuration file manualy and running multiple instances of the application. For more information, ask for help on the forums.
This will also be an integral feature of Background Compute.
